Our approach to research is evidenced in our whainga (goals). These are:
1. To provide high-quality research activities as a source of mātauranga within Te Wānanga o Wairaka and our wider communities.
2. To enable Māori communities to flourish through active engagement in kaupapa Māori research.
3. To conduct kaupapa Māori community-driven research than contributes to the development of Indigenous innovation, solutions and traditions.
4. To active research that produces and sustains knowledge that ensures social, cultural environmental sustainability for future generations.
